There are many misconceptions around Detox. Many people think a Detox means only eating raw vegetables or going on a juice cleanse. Although these detox methods are super effective, this is not the only way.
To Detox is simply spending a period of time eliminating substances that have a negative effect on you and your body and choosing healthier options.
This could be to swap out dairy milk for a nut based milk, drink one less coffee per day and have a green tea instead, or stop drinking alcohol for a while to get a clearer mind. But a Detox could also be to stop spending time with certain people that only drag you down and have a negative impact on your life and spend more time with those who lift and inspire you
The answer is EVERYBODY!
Everybody would benefit from a detox of some kind. If it’s cutting down on your meat intake or maybe cutting out gluten for a while to see how your body is responding. A detox that is specifically tailored for YOUR NEEDS, YOUR HEALTH and YOUR GOALS will ALWAYS be beneficial for you.
*Please Note, if you have certain health issues or you are pregnant I wouldn’t recommend doing a detox, but this would be determined during your health consultation.
When we detox we eliminate all acidic and hard to digest foods. Foods that require a lot of energy from the body to break down, assimilate and eliminate.
We flush out toxins that have built up in our bodies, especially in our liver, in and around our cells and in our fatty tissues.
When the body has stored toxins in our bodies we will feel very sluggish and the liver cannot detoxify properly.
The liver is the body’s primary detox organ. Its main purpose is to assimilate what is useful for the body’s function, growth and healing and eliminating what causes issues. But when the liver is working so hard at trying to get rid of preservatives and pesticides and highly refined sugars from our foods there is no space left for purifying and restoring the body or to burn fat.
When you do a detox you give the liver a break to do what its meant to do. Clean out your system so the body can heal, build new cells, strengthen your immune system and burn fat.
The other most important detox system in your body is your digestive system and your gut. The digestive system break down and assimilates all of the food you’re eating. Hard digested and acidic foods like red meat and dairy take all of the body’s resources to break down so there is just no energy left to restore and heal the body.
A toxic body will prevent you from losing weight because the body holds on to fat to protect the organs from toxicity.
Once you have detoxed your system through eliminating acidic food groups, the body will become alkalined and can start a more effective fat burning process.
Benefits (to mention a few):
This is an important list of health benefits, but the real benefit from Detox is that you will feel lighter, brighter and MORE HAPPY than you have felt in a very long time (if ever)! Your body has received a proper ‘spring clean’ and is now strong and healthy and ready to start the next chapter in your life!
